Keppel Elementary Comprehensive School Safety Plan
At Keppel Elementary, student safety is our top priority. Each year, we update and review our Comprehensive School Safety Plan (CSSP) to ensure a safe, supportive environment for all students.
What the Safety Plan Includes:
-
Emergency drills and disaster preparedness (fire, earthquake, lockdown, evacuation, etc.)
-
Child abuse reporting procedures
-
Bullying prevention and anti-discrimination policies
-
Clear discipline guidelines and restorative practices
-
Safe campus entry/exit procedures, including visitor check-in through the RAPTOR system
-
Training for staff on student safety, mental health awareness, and emergency response
Our Safety Vision:
We believe every student deserves to feel safe—physically, emotionally, and socially—so they can focus on learning. The CSSP outlines strategies to prevent problems before they occur and to respond quickly when issues arise.
Community Partnership:
The plan is developed with input from parents, staff, law enforcement, and first responders. We also work closely with the Paramount Unified School District Safety and Security Department to improve our emergency readiness.
Student Support:
-
Positive Behavior Support and restorative practices are used to teach and encourage positive choices.
-
Attendance concerns are addressed with supportive interventions through our School Attendance Review Team (SART).
-
A school counselor and social worker are available for students who need additional help.
Transparency:
-
The CSSP is reviewed by March 1 each year.
-
A summary of the plan is included in our school’s annual accountability report.
-
A full copy of the plan is available in the school office for parents to review.
