AVID Certified School

At Paramount Unified School District, we want every student to be ready for college, career, and life. AVID Elementary (Advancement Via Individual Determination) helps us achieve that goal by teaching students the skills and habits they need to succeed in school and beyond.

AVID Elementary is part of the national AVID College Readiness System, which focuses on closing the opportunity gap and preparing all students to thrive in a global society.

Through AVID, students learn to:

  • Write to learn – organize and express their thinking clearly

  • Ask questions and explore ideas through inquiry

  • Work together through collaboration

  • Stay organized and manage time effectively

  • Read to learn and build comprehension skills

The program also helps students develop motivation, confidence, and perseverance, encouraging them to set goals and believe in their ability to succeed.

By building these skills early, AVID Elementary creates a strong foundation for academic growth and a smooth transition to middle school.
