Dual Language Immersion

• Keppel follows a 90:10 model: 
• Kindergarten–1st Grade: 90% instruction in Spanish, 10% in English 
• 2nd Grade: 80% Spanish, 20% English 
• 3rd Grade: 70% Spanish, 30% English 
• 4th Grade: 60% Spanish, 40% English 
• 5th Grade: 50% Spanish, 50% English 
• By 4th–5th grade, students achieve a balanced bilingual education. 

• Kindergarten students starting in August 2025 (must turn 5 by September 1, 2025) 
• Native English speakers, native Spanish speakers, or bilingual students 
• Students from within Paramount Unified and neighboring communities 
• 1st grade entry is based on space availability and a language assessment 

Students in DLI are celebrated for their progress toward biliteracy. At the end of their schooling, they may qualify for the California State Seal of Biliteracy, a distinction of great value for college and careers. 

• Enrollment is through the PUSD registration process 
• Families interested in DLI should indicate their preference during Kindergarten registration
